Scotland’s own Piper Niven failed to replicate the success of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, as she failed to win the WWE Women’s Title. Although the 33-year-old star posed one of the toughest challenges of Bayley‘s title reign yet, she still managed to come out on top. She retained the title in her third title defense after winning it from Iyo Sky at WrestleMania XL.
The match started with fans cheering for both stars, even though it was Piper Niven‘s home. Piper quickly overpowered Bayley, with Chelsea Green mocking her from outside and even landing a cheap shot when the referee wasn’t watching. The 33-year-old soon took control of the match after the champ got distracted by The Lunatic Lush’s shenanigans.
Although the former Duodrop was the more powerful of the two, Bayley always chipped in with her shots. Niven executed the running Swanton perfectly, but the veteran showed a lot of grit by kicking out. The challenger dominated her for the majority of the match. However, the momentum soon turned against the 35-year-old star when she used the heavyweight’s momentum against her.
Green once again interrupted the match wearing a luchador mask but was soon subdued. In the final moments of the match, The Role Model showed why she was honored as a veteran of the business when she picked up the win with a roll-up pin. Although Piper failed to win the title, there was no denying that she put up a valiant effort.
