Twitter CEO and one of the richest persons in the world Elon Musk dropped a ‘cryptic’ tweet on December 30 following the arrest of controversial kickboxer-turned internet personality Andrew Tate. The tweet, or rather a meme was an indirect taunt to the kickboxer who was blaming the matrix for getting him arrested.
Tate was taken under the Romanian policy custody along with his brother and two other country civilians following a raid at his house. While there have been multiple assumptions regarding what led to Tate’s arrest, the ‘pizza jab’ has become quite popular with the mass. The arrest has also taken further development as the authorities have ordered a month’s detention for the brothers.
It, therefore seems that someone else is currently having access to Tate’s account who claimed that the Matrix sent their agents, referring to his arrest a day before. Following this, Elon Musk posted a meme that read- “What if I told you the only way to escape the Matrix is to unlearn everything that you have been taught and rebuild your entire belief system based on critical thought and analysis.”
Tate’s account retweeted the post and also made a follow up tweet, “The Matrix will only tell you what the Matrix needs you to believe”, implying that there is no escape from this loop, contradicting to Elon Musk’s claim.

What is Elon Musk implying through the ‘matrix’ meme?
When Andrew Tate got banned from every single social media platform, SpaceX owner Elon Musk came as his savior as he decided to reverse the lifetime bans on Twitter placed on different accounts. This led to the comeback of Andrew Tate, Donald Trump and Kanye West, although the American rapper got banned shortly following his anti-semitic remarks.
Tate is a staunch believer of the ‘matrix’ concept as even his Twitter bio reads- “escape the matrix”. This can be traced back to the 1999 sci-fi movie ‘The Matrix’ where the protagonist Neo was unable to escape from a mechanically created reality by powerful computers.
His matrix belief has been reiterated time and again through tweets and podcasts as once he stated on a podcast that, ”We live in a matrix because our body heat and our efforts and our ingenuity are being used by the machines.” Following his arrest, Tate believes that the same matrix got him arrested.
Elon Musk, on the other hand is giving the same movie reference as he suggested the controversial internet personality about how he can escape the matrix. His meme is actually a line quoted by Morpheus in the movie who was able to untangle the ‘matrix’ chains of Neo and set him free in the world.

Twitterati reacts to Elon Musk’s tweet
Elon Musk’s tweet received millions of reactions as it was quite surprising to see making an indirect reference to Andrew Tate’s arrest. Some people even thought that Musk had got him arrested, although this is the most unlikely scenario.
Elon Musk’s decision to bring back Andrew Tate on Twitter received a huge backlash across the community and when the internet personality got arrested, people were surprised to see that Musk has not taken any steps to remove him from the platform.
