Ahead of her return to action at the Indian Wells, Paula Badosa took part in the Eisenhower Cup Tie Break Tens, an exhibition tournament where players compete in a ten-point tie-break.

The Spaniard lost in the semi-finals to eventual champion Amanda Anisimova 10-6. Other players including Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, and Simona Halep took part in the tournament. After her semi-final match, Badosa dropped a major hint about her relationship with actor-model Juan Betancourt in a light-hearted post-match interview. The couple has been together since 2021 and they are quite vocal about their relationship.

Badosa was asked about her relationship status with Juan, she said that she would like to get engaged in the next few years and remarked she is waiting for it.

“I’m getting into it. Maybe in a few, a year or something I will get engaged. I don’t know, I’m waiting,” she said showing her ring finger, expressing her desire to get engaged.

Juan is a Cuban model based in Spain and has worked with many lucrative brands including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger. He has also made an appearance in a handful of movies and TV shows.

Paula Badosa eyes title defense at the Indian Wells

After starting her 2022 season with an opening-round exit at the WTA Adelaide International, Badosa bounced back in a remarkable way by clinching the Sydney International title by defeating Barbora Krejcikova in the finals. But since then she had sub-par results in the next tournaments. Badosa was knocked out in the fourth round of the Australian Open, before facing early exits at the Qatar Open and Dubai Tennis Championships.

Now she returns to the hard courts in California, the place where she won her maiden WTA title last year. Badosa had a stellar run to the title, she defeated four top-20 players and got the better of former Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka in a grueling 3-hour and 4-minute clash, which was last year’s longest WTA singles final. With a 6-0 unbeaten run at the Indian Wells, Badosa will be keen to turn around her fortunes and put an end to her barren run of form by defending her title.
