Lara Fabian is a Belgian-Canadian pop singer and songwriter.
She was born in Etterbeek, Belgium, to a Flemish father, Pierre Crokaert, and an Italian/Sicilian mother, Maria Luisa Serio, who is from Catania. She spent her first five years in her mother’s hometown in Italy. Although her first language is Italian, she also speaks fluent French, Spanish, and English, and sings in many other languages. Lara moved to Montréal, Québec, Canada in 1991, and holds both Belgian and Canadian citizenship.
Lara is married to Sicilian musician and artist Gabriel Di Giorgio. She has a daughter with her former partner, French director, producer, and composer Gérard Pullicino.
Lara’s maternal grandmother was named Anna.
