BURLINGTON, Va. (CelebrityAccess) Author and radio show host Garrison Keillor canceled an appearance at a Vermont book festival after a public outcry.

Keiller, host of “A Prairie Home Companion” and onetime bestselling book “Lake Wobegon Days,” was expected to attend an Oct. 14 fundraising event for the Burlington Book Festival but it will not take place. Founding director Rick Kisonak confirmed to Vermont Public Radio that “the unexpected reaction on social media made it apparent some people viewed his booking as our condoning of sexual harassment” but that “nothing could be further from the truth.”

The 76-year-old radio personality was accused of sexual harassment last year and severed ties with Minnesota Public Radio.
